Shades of Blue: Embracing the Color of Kentucky
What’s Kentucky’s favorite day of the week? Good ol’ Caturday!
Autumn weekends in the South are devoted to college football. Through the sun beaming and the leaves falling, you can find our Wildcats every Saturday of the season cheering in their best Kentucky blue. Ladies complement their blue dresses and rompers with cowboy boots, with some looks incorporating our school colors perfectly with blue and white designs.
Here in Kentucky, we accessorize with pearls and wear our hair in curls. A fan favorite within tailgating fashion is large blue and white necklaces to make an outfit really pop. You cannot forget your student ID and ticket, so a cute and simple shoulder purse is perfect for holding all of your essentials. To finish the outfit, throw on a pair of aviator sunglasses and a Wildcat face sticker on your cheek.
For a more laid back look, you can’t go wrong with high-waisted jean shorts paired with a Power K letter shirt. For the colder games, wear a cozy pair of leggings with a UK jersey layered over a black or white long sleeve shirt. Then it’s time to whip out the tall socks and boots to cheer on the Cats even in the cold.
As for the fellas, you can find them wearing Kentucky blue polo shirts, khaki shorts and needlepoint UK belts. They finish off their outfits with a simple pair of Sperry’s and classic Ray Bans.
Tailgaters have an undeniable look that turns typical Lexington into a sea of blue on game days. Be sure to wear your Kentucky Blue in style!
