Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration
With off-and-on warm weather and cold weather that, frankly, hasn’t been all that cold, this year’s Thanksgiving outfit will be a tough one to plan. Thanksgiving is no doubt supposed to be a cold holiday, so it might feel unnatural to be wearing short sleeves – or anything that’s not an oversized sweater. But no worries, KRNL has you covered.
This Thanksgiving, keep your options open with layers that can transition from brunch to dinner, from outside to inside, and from spending time with family to unapologetically eating a second (or third) helping. Go bold in a long, Kardashian-esque jacket over skinny jeans and a cool tee, or play it safe in a loose sweater and ankle boots.
Sweater dresses are a great option for Thanksgiving celebrations in a not-so-Winter Wonderland. They offer warmth and modesty (for those brutally honest grandmas), and they’re breathable and comfortable enough to lounge around after a yummy Thanksgiving dinner. Sweater dresses are also incredibly chic and effortless, especially paired with sneakers and an easy hairdo. After all, it’s not time to break out the Christmas-best just yet.
As for accessories, scarves are nearly essential in transitional weather, as they can easily be removed when necessary – and they add a sense of completion to any outfit. Small pieces of jewelry add an effortless dynamic of textures to a Thanksgiving outfit, too. Bold earrings or dainty necklaces are particularly recommended, as you won’t want to worry about bracelets or rings getting food on them as you chow down.
Thanksgiving is also a time where you can really play up your favorite fall colors like deep purples, burnt yellows and rich reds. Textures like velvet, wool, fur and even metallics bring out these colors, so if you’re an Insta-glamazon, be sure to consider which outfits will best translate in pictures. If you want to go to the extreme, enlist a few family members to coordinate outfits with and you’ll have a gathering worthy of even the stingiest of Kardashians.
