5 Fun Things to do in Lexington This Fall

Finally, the leaves are changing colors, the temperature is dropping, and you can finally pull out your sweaters you have been waiting for all summer. Now it’s time to make a list of activities that you want to complete this fall in Lexington. Lexington has a wide variety of options for you and your friends to do this season.

1. Evan’s Orchard

This market and Cider Mill is located in Georgetown, Ky which is only a 25-minute drive from campus. The Orchard has acres of land for you to explore during this time of the year with apple picking, pumpkin picking, and hayrides. They also are putting on a Harvest festival from Sept. 15 - Oct. 29 where you can celebrate the fall season.

2. Keeneland

Who doesn’t love a good day at the races? The Fall Meet will be from Oct. 5 to Oct. 27 with lots of activities to participate in. In addition to all of the races, there are other things that you are able to do at Keeneland, such as touring the grounds, shopping at the Keeneland Shop or even dine at their restaurant for brunch.

3. Lexington Farmers Market

The farmers market is your one-stop shop for everything local. Grab a few of your friends and stroll through downtown Lexington to shop locally grown foods and listen to some local musicians. Currently, the market is open downtown on Saturday’s from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They also have other locations and hours so make sure to check them out on social media!

4. Thursday Night Live

Also in downtown Lexington, there are musicians that play every Thursday night until October 11th, so be sure to get down there soon before you miss this season of TNL! Vendors from surrounding areas gather together in the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion at Cheapside Park for fun times. The event starts at 5:00 p.m. and the music plays from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

5. Devine’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

Need I say more? Nothing says fall more than a corn maze followed by picking out the most perfect pumpkin. A little bit further from campus —40 minutes— but worth the drive. There is also FREE marshmallow roasting at their nightly bonfire. Definitely a good place to check out this fall.

Hopefully, something on this list inspires you to go out this fall and explore our local Lexington area!
