Spring into these 2018 Fashion Week Trends
As most of us are aware by now Fashion Week is happening for the Spring 2019 collections all around the world. There are shows occurring in New York, London, Milan, and Paris showcasing the all-new Spring trends. Even if you watch the shows it can be hard to take Haute Couture trends off the runway and incorporate them into your own daily wardrobe. As I watched the Spring 2019 runway shows I picked up on some prevalent global trends and I will teach you a few ways to integrate them into your outfits.
“American Dream”
This new trend was showcased in Raf Simons, Laura Kim, and Fernando Garcia runway shows. One of the designs that showed this was a red, blue, and white tassel dress. Another outfit was a grunge-inspired striped dress paired with an oversized white star patterned scarf. A few ways that you could work this into your wardrobe would be adding the colors red, white, and navy into your spring outfits. You could also choose pieces that have stars and stripes pattern.
Utilitarian
This inspired clothing was shown in shows such as Tod’s, Prada, Sportmax, and Gabriele Colangelo. The way to place this is your outfits is by going for jackets with multi-pockets and also multi-zippers.
90’s Urban Vibe
I have begun to see these trends reappear in recent years, but now pieces such as windbreakers and parkas are back in full swing. These were prevalent in the Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, and the Claudia Li shows. With the reemerging style of the 90’s, also brings back that generation's accessories. Things such as X-girl sunglasses were worn in the Prada and Louis Vuitton shows, including razor edges and many different color variations. If you want to stay up with the seasonal trends, this year I would recommend digging to find any of these 90’s trends that you might still have somewhere at home.
Rubber
The next and final specific trend that was on the runway might be something that you have already spotted lately. If you keep up with the Kardashians you might already be aware of the new chic rubber dresses that they have been wearing. This trend is now thriving on the runway in shows such as Calvin Klein and Balenciaga. These designers are loving the synthetic body molding rubber look, and maybe it is time for us to start loving it too.
Formal Fabrics
The next few trends are things that were shown all over the world and in various shows. First off, sheer fabrics —specifically tulle— was often used this year. These sheer fabrics were used to make designs that left little to the imagination but still managed to be sophisticated. Tulle was used frequently in the Milan Fashion Week, as it is more of a glamorous material. I would suggest incorporating this trend into more spring formal wear, maybe try it out on a dress for a more fancy event. Going off of the elegant formal fabrics, Satin was a very dominant fabric this year in the London Fashion Week. Often used for dresses and tops by the designers Christopher Kane and Roksanda.
Lavender
The last suggestion I have to help incorporate the Spring 2019 fashion shows into your wardrobe is by ending the loved obsession with Millennial pink. For me, this was extremely hard to read as this is my all time favorite color and seeing it the past year in stores delighted me. But according to Fashion Week pastels are still in and with it a new trend of Lavender is coming. This was really displayed in Victoria Beckham and Michael Kors shows this year.
All these trends from the Spring 2019 Collections are very different and unique, but there is something for all of us. This upcoming spring try something new. See if you can pair some of your own personal style with one of these trends!
