The AMA’s and the AMAzing Performances

The American Music Awards is always one of the best showcases of fashion, music, and some of your favorite celebrities. This award show is seen as one of the largest fan-voted award shows in the music industry. This year, a lot of moments were hard to forget and need to be recognized!

From Cardi B to Taylor Swift to Carrie Underwood, they covered it all. Starting with the always hilarious, Tracee Ellis-Ross, as the host again this year. She started the show with a great musical number all about women empowerment. Her hilarious jokes in between each award and performance kept me wanting to watch more!

Throughout the award show, we got to see new collaborations, amazing dance numbers, and just flat-out jaw-dropping performances. Taylor Swift opened the show with her song, “I Did Something Bad”. She danced, sang, and worked the runway. Her stage was filled with dancers, fire, and a giant snake. The whole performance was the perfect example of her Reputation Tour, which won ‘Tour of the Year’ last night.

Cardi B’s performance with Bad Bunny and J Balvin was nothing short of perfect. Whether it was Cardi B salsa dancing with one of her dancers, the elaborate setting behind her, or her fabulous bodysuit and skirt duo that she wore: you always had something to watch! Cardi B. truly blew our minds by performing “I Like It” for the first time ever on TV.

Let’s not forget about the beautiful tribute to Aretha Franklin, which was performed by Gladys Knight. She sang a creative rendition of “Amazing Grace”, “Mary Don’t You Weep”, and many other gospel songs. She sang her heart-out to commemorate the beautiful soul-singer we lost earlier this year.

In between each performance we had winners from all different genres of music: Camila Cabello, Post Malone, Migos, Kane Brown, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Cardi B, Khalid, Shawn Mendes, Bruno Mars, and so many more. A special shout-out to Taylor Swift is needed for winning three awards last night, which broke the record for most AMA’s won by a female artist! She surpassed Whitney Houston and if that’s not an accomplishment in itself then I don’t know what is.

Congratulations to all of the winners and all of their success this year! I’m sure everyone is excited to hear a lot more music coming from these artists. I know I am!
