Joggers Aren't Just for Jogging
It practically went from summer to winter here in Lexington, leaving most of us fashionably unprepared. The cold temperatures are hard to fight with cute, but comfortable outfits for class, or what I like to call looking “comfy cute”. Although there are some days when we all want to just roll out of bed and throw on a pair of leggings and an oversized sweatshirt, there is still a convenient way to dress fashionably in just five minutes.
Joggers are becoming the new leggings.
What is amazing about joggers is that they are made with similar material as sweatpants, but fit the body in a slimming way since they are tight at the bottom and the waist. They give your legs some room to breathe and feel extra cozy. However, the idea of a “lazy” clothing item being trendy may leave some people confused. With the help of staple pieces in your closet, you can turn your Sunday loungewear into street style.
My current, favorite joggers are my Lululemon “Warm Down Joggers.” They are more on the pricey side but are totally worth the investment once you see what you can do with them. Since we are college students and on a budget, joggers from TJ MAX and Forever 21 look just as chic.
To stay EXTRA warm, an oversized jacket can immediately up the jogger outfit even more. It does not have to be an actual winter coat, but instead a light, fluffy one that gives the, “Oh, I just threw this on” look. In my daily jogger outfits, I like to pair it with my white, furry Abercrombie jacket. Yes, Abercrombie seems to be forgotten about these days, but I just happened to stumble upon this I.AM.GIA. dupe that I knew would look perfect with almost anything. You can either zip up the jacket or keep it open. I prefer to keep it open so you can layer the jacket with basic white long sleeve shirts and simple, gold jewelry.
If I’m feeling really cozy, I like to pair my joggers with an oversized knit sweater. This is still very convenient and you get way more money out of your sweater if it is not always used for nice occasions. Pairing an expensive looking piece with something casual helps create a more put together look. You can even pair it with a baseball cap if you’re feeling sporty. This look can be trendy for the grocery store, casual dinner, and a stroll through the city. It meets all platforms.
The fall and winter seasons are a prime time to whip out the jean jackets. They aren’t too light or too heavy, just the perfect amount of warmth. Even more important, they look fabulous with joggers. If it gets too hot, the jean jacket still looks stylish tied around your waist. You can use a basic top or graphic tee for underneath, paired with some white sneakers.
Joggers are a must for this season because you can create a grab-n-go outfit that is professional for going to class and then a date night with your friends at Local Taco.
