1. Bartending: Many college students love to go out to bars, but have you ever thought about working at one? For me, I started bartending at the beginning of the summer and now I go to work every single day excited to be there because I have so much fun.
Bartending is a good way to meet new people, socialize, party, and work, all in one. Depending on where you work, you can make really good money in tips, sometimes $900 in one week. And because a college student’s life can be fast-paced, it is good to get paid in cash every night instead of waiting every two weeks for a paycheck.
2. Serving: Serving can be a really good job for college students as well. Serving is the same as bartending except you’re serving food instead of drinks. It’s a good way to make some fast cash as well as improve on your communication skills.
Many restaurants hire college students to serve in college towns because they are the backbone of the community. Serving in a college town is a good opportunity for a college student.
3. Uber Most college students use Uber to get around campus and around town. With such an expensive knowledge of the app itself and of the college town, students are the perfect fit for such a job.
Not only that, with Uber students can be in charge of their own schedule. If you don’t have much time to work on the weekdays because of class, you can just take one hour when you’re free. Open up the app and see who needs a ride. Simple as that.
4. The Fayette Mall With the mall being about a 10 to 15 minute drive from campus, it is the perfect location for a college student. Many students spend a lot of time in the mall already, whether to shop for UK gear or watch a movie on the weekend. The mall has many stores for all different types of personalities and students are sure to find the perfect fit for their job needs.
5. On Campus Last but not least, and the most obvious, work on campus. Unlike most jobs, work-study takes into consideration your class schedule, your extracurricular activities, and time you need to do homework. Work-study works around your schedule to help you stay on track in school.
Employers under work-study are also much more flexible with your time off requests, and sick call–ins. They understand that college students go through a lot and they are there to benefit you.
Some jobs under work-study that you can apply for are dining facilities such as The 90, Chick-fil-A, Einstein Bros Bagels, K-Lair, Subway, Starbucks and many more. Or you can work in ResLife, where you can work in any of the dorms as a desk clerk. There any many other opportunities on campus for students to find work.
