5 Simple Steps to Help You Host the Perfect Thanksgiving Dinner

After #SpookySeason ends, Thanksgiving is the most important event of November, other than Black Friday. We often believe that everyone gets to go home to their families during the holiday season. In reality, many don’t. You might not have a family to go visit, or you might not be able to afford to travel to see your family, or it might simply be your turn to host Thanksgiving this year. Either way, hosting Thanksgiving dinner can be overwhelming and take a lot of preparation. Below are tips and tricks to help you host the perfect Thanksgiving dinner.

1. Clean out your fridge

Cleaning out your fridge will make your life much easier. You will figure out what you have and don’t have to prepare the meal. It’s just great to throw unneeded items out anyways. Remember that since you are the one preparing, you need fridge space to store most of the ingredients. You will feel extremely overwhelmed in the kitchen while cooking if you don’t have a blank slate.

2. Set the table and decide on table decor

No matter what the occasion is, table decor is everything when it comes to hosting a party. Not only do you want your guests to enjoy themselves, but you also want them to be in an aesthetically pleasing environment. When you are preparing ahead of time, this is the fun part. You can find most of your decor for the table at stores, including your local ones. Bring out the rare wines, fine china, and silverware that you only use on special occasions. Do not use paper plates or any regular items you would use on a day-to-day basis. This is your time to show off as a host!

3. Make seating arrangements

This is essential to how your party will go. What happens if one friend dislikes another person coming to your party? You must address your seating arrangement accordingly. You want to have people to enjoy their time with people they are sitting close to, especially if the table is full of people at a distance.

4. Plan a menu for the evening

The food is the reason for the party! Make a list of food items you would like to see on the menu. Remember to double check with your guests for possible food allergies or preferences. You want to be accommodating to those whom you invite into your home!

5. Have a good time

Hosting can be stressful. If someone offers their help, take it! You want your guests to have a good time, as well as yourself. It’s all about being thankful and spending time with your loved ones. It’s ok if the party doesn’t work out in every single aspect. Just remember what Thanksgiving is about, and you are bound to have a successful evening!
