How to #SelfCareSunday

After a long week of trying to balance school work, a social life, and everything else in between (i.e. relationships, job, health, sleep), Sunday has become my day to unwind and relax while keeping up with my schedule. Here is my Sunday schedule to keep me sane and organized for what's to come each week.

1.Clean...everything.

Keeping a clean room, living space, and workspace is essential to both productivity and relaxation. I usually like to start my Sundays by taking care of that pile of clothes that seemingly is always there by the end of the week, disinfecting all surfaces, organizing, making my bed, and simply tidying up anything that is out of place. Another few things you should make sure you do are clean out your fridge and cabinets, wipe down your bathroom, and clean — vacuum or Swiffer — the floors. Once this is done, I automatically feel relieved and ready to take on what the next week has to offer.

2. Plan out your week.

A huge part of keeping my daily tasks organized is keeping a planner that I can write in daily. Every Sunday I prep for the week by writing down all assignments and exams I have coming up and any meetings or appointments that I need to attend. I also keep a list of things that I need to do that week. In doing this, I make sure not to do forget anything and it keeps me on track to being the most productive person I can be. This is an essential skill I’ve adopted in college and if you don’t do this already I highly suggest you give it a try. Plus you can buy some really cute planners and stickers to get your life together one day at a time. Along with planning out my week, if there are any assignments or big exams or projects I can do before the week starts I like to get them started or finish them to make my workload for the week a little lighter.

3. Relax, relax, & relax some more.

Now that you’ve cleaned your space and taken care of anything that needs to be done to kick off your week, it’s perfectly fine — and highly suggested — that you give yourself time to just lay in your freshly made bed and scroll through Instagram or watch a few episodes of your favorite tv show. I’m hooked on The Carrie Diaries right now. Usually I “accidentally” take a quick nap during this time too. This step can be practiced within any time of the day, I normally like to do it once all my work is done and I’ve eaten lunch, but if you prefer to clean and do work at night, you do you boo.

4. Facemask on. World out.

For some reason on Sundays my shower time doubles, but I’m not mad about it. Taking the time to fully cleanse your self gives you a boost to start Monday on a fresh note. After my nighttime shower, I love to lounge around in my oversized robe — you should probably invest in one of these if you haven’t already — and put on a facemask. My favorite masks to use as of right now are the Dr.Jart ones. I find they actually give results related to what they target.

5. SLEEP

The most important step of #SelfCareSunday, a good night's rest. Try to go to bed at a decent hour and give yourself 8-9 hours of good rest. This is crucial to my routine, as it helps me start my week on the right foot and catches me up on lost sleep the previous days.
