Mother's Day Style Inspiration

What would we do without moms? As our first mentors, role models, and inspirations, moms deserve far more than just one day of appreciation. Nonetheless, that’s what the leaders of Hallmark have set forth, so we should at least try our best to look mom-approved for the special day. Here are the top five ways to create a style that will make any mom proud on Mother’s Day:

1. Stay polished. Whether you’re going out for a Mother’s Day brunch or treating Mom to a day at the spa, nothing makes a mama bear happier than a clean child. Therefore, your clothes should of course be clean, but also modest and well fitted, covering everything your mom always reminds you about.

2. Celebrate in color. Mother’s Day is at the outset of summer, so vibrant colors are a must. Go-to colors include pink, yellow, or white, but don’t be afraid to branch out. You may even want to wear your mom’s favorite color since it is her day.

3. Stay soft. This tip applies not just to hugs from mom but to both style and beauty. Mothers think their children are beautiful no matter what, so simply accentuate your mom-given beauty with minimal makeup and soft outfit features like lace, floral prints, or flowing lines.

4. Accessorize! Yes, jewelry is important in a Mother’s Day look, but what is more important is the meaning behind it. Pearls or gold will go great with a Mother’s Day outfit, but it’s also nice to wear something that your mom gave you as a gift or heirloom. Another great accessory would be the fresh flowers or chocolates you brought her for Mother’s Day.

***Note: One accessory you should use sparingly is your phone. Sure, take a selfie or two with mom, but definitely give her your full attention.

5. Match with Mom. You may have thought it was totally uncool when you were a kid, but mother/daughter duos are all the rage now. Whether you go for the North West/Kim Kardashian edgy chic look or the Kaia Gerber/Cindy Crawford statuesque style, this is not your mother’s trend – or maybe it is. But is that a bad thing? Mom’s rock!

The most important aspect of your Mother’s Day style is your attitude. It’s Mother’s Day, so treat your mom with the utmost respect. We all know it to be true: when Mom is happy, everyone is happy. And no matter how old you are or how fabulous your Mother’s Day outfit is, a good hug from Mom is always mutually beneficial.
