Five Muses for Summer Style

Ah, summertime. So you’re finally done with finals and now it’s time to overcome the multiple fashion faux pas you committed during the past few weeks of no makeup, no hair brushing, and no cares besides finding a table at Willy T. It’s okay; we’ve all been there. Nonetheless, summer is here and while we’ve been suffering through the stress of college life, It girls like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Taylor Swift have been killing their summer style. While we all know these girls will be fabulous for years to come, here are five more style icons (of many) to inspire you this summer:

1. Brigitte Bardot. Of course we had to start with B.B. Our beach babe goals since 1934, Brigitte combines the liberation of life with the vibrancy of summer. Her bombshell blonde hair and bold beauty make her a style icon for the ages.

2. Diane von Furstenberg. DVF’s Spring/Summer 2016 line featured bright turquoise eye makeup, flowing Bali-inspired patterns, and big, natural curls accentuated with colorful flowers. Not only does Diane design beautiful clothing, but she, herself, exudes confidence with poise and self-assurance.

3. Cher Horowitz - better known as the scheming, totally buggin’ main character of Clueless. Her matching ensembles and knee-high socks might sound like school-not-summer attire, but even school attire isn't school attire these days. This summer may be your best chance to mimic Cher's southern California style circa 1995, and if you need guidance, just consult your outfit database as seen in the movie. Doesn't everyone have those?

4. Jane Birkin. Sure, the 90s were stylin,' but we can all agree that the 70s are having a moment in fashion. An icon of 70s style, Jane Birkin knows how to rock doe eyes and fringy bangs – perfect inspiration for all those summer festivals.

5. Frida Kahlo. Those eyebrows, those braids, those selfies?! Well, self-portraits. Anyway, Frida Kahlo is a fabulous mix of feminism, independence, and fearless style. What better way to spend summer ’16 than to be your own muse?
