8 Must-Have Hair Products for Shower Addicts

To shower or not to shower? That is never the question for those of us who feel the need to shower every single day. Sure, hair experts agree that showering every day can block the hair benefits of natural oils, but with 90+ degree temperatures, daily workouts (ha, as if), and the energizing cleanliness that showers provide, dry shampoo just won't cut it. Nonetheless, we must accommodate our hair’s health needs, but we don’t have to give up our cleanliness to do so. Here are eight hair products that will keep even the most washed-out hair healthy and beautiful:

1. Restorative Shampoo – This one’s a no-brainer. If you wash your hair every day, you’ll want a shampoo that will strengthen your hair instead of stripping away the natural oils. Think about it, if you shower every day with a harsh shampoo, your hair will be dry and brittle. Instead, opt for a hydrating shampoo that’ll clean your hair without leaving it susceptible to damage. Look for words like “restorative,” “rejuvenating” or “nourishing.” If you style your hair every day, you’ll also want a shampoo that works to prevent split ends and heat damage. 2. Deep Conditioner – While normal conditioners usually work well enough to make your hair smooth and healthy, a deep conditioner will do a much more thorough job. It should be used at least once a week and left on for a few minutes so that it can soak in. Especially for people who wash their hair a lot, a deep conditioner will restore oils and hydration to your hair.

3. Leave-in Conditioner – A leave-in conditioner is much different than a deep conditioner. Leave-in conditioners are not rinsed out, but instead work throughout the day to repair damage and leave your hair shiny and smooth. You don’t have to use both deep and leave-in conditioners, but it may be worth a try if your hair is particularly damaged. To use, shampoo and towel dry your hair like usual and apply the leave-in conditioner to the mid to bottom shafts of your hair. 4. Purifying Shampoo – With all these products, you may experience some product build-up after a few showers. Therefore, it’s essential to use a purifying shampoo every once in a while. Purifying shampoos should be used once a week at most to strip hair of the build-up. Some regular shampoos (like Prell) may strip away your natural oils, which is okay if used sparingly. There are other, more expensive options for purifying shampoos, most of which are found in salons or beauty stores, and these products will clear the build-up while still maintaining the natural oils in your hair. 5. Superabsorbent Towel – Drying your hair by tousling or twisting it in a towel can actually cause a lot of damage and frizz, so you want a towel that will get the job done quickly and gently. You can go as far as getting a literal ShamWow for your hair, or you can just buy ultra-thick towels at your local home goods store. 6. Hair Glaze – Want glossy hair like Kendall Jenner? With a hair shining product, your hair will look smoother and brighter than ever – almost like a topcoat for your hair. Hair glazes come a clear coat or in a variety of shades, making it perfect for any hair color or type.

7. Hair Oil – Natural oils like argan, avocado and coconut oil will do wonders for your hair. They hydrate, strengthen and sometimes even help grow your hair, all while offering chemical free remedies to over-washed or damaged hair. You can buy all-natural oils from health-food stores, or you can go with bigger oil-based brands like Moroccan Oil. 8. Heat Protectant – Showering every day is one thing, but if you also style your hair each day with heat products, your hair most likely needs some extensive TLC. While heat protectants won’t prevent all damage (unfortunately, the only way to do that is to stop using heat), heat protectants will work to shield hair from heat-induced breakage, making them an absolute essential to your hair routine.
