As Trump speaks, others make their own fashion statement
Last night, President Donald Trump addressed Congress in the first joint session of his presidency. Trump sported a navy and white tie and a fitted suit, which deviated from his signature red tie.
The President wasn't the only one to make a fashion statement during his speech. First Lady Melania Trump wore a sequined Micheal Kors skirtsuit, Vogue reported. The all black ensemble had an '80s feel with its sharp shoulders and belt, her only accessory.
Across the aisle, Democratic women sported all white outfits, paying homage to suffragettes of the past. The Washington Post said Republican women appeared to answer with their own color, purple, the symbol of bipartisanship. Notable Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts sported a purple blazer as well, the Post said.
Perhaps the best fashion statement of the night goes to Wilbur Ross, Trump's newly- confirmed secretary of commerce. Ross wore custom slippers with the Department of Commerce's seal on them. The Cut reported the shoes were designed by Stubbs & Wootton and cost $525.
